Work Party at Larry’s Garage (Aug. 25, 2018)

Story and photos by Mark Wing

This was a super busy day at Larry’s Garage!  Club members with projects included Paul and Marilyn Duncan, Eddie Paquette, Dave Merewether, Phil Lance, Mark Wing, Ken Carpenter, and Frank Lewark.

Paul and Marilyn Duncan brought their 1927 Model T pickup truck to mount the driver’s side splash apron.  They also wanted to mount Rock Mountain brakes on this car before the upcoming tour to Las Cruces at the end of the month.

Eddie Paquette brought a Kingston carburetor for disassembly and rebuilding.

Dave Merewether’s Centerdoor Sedan had an extraneous bracket removed and the area patched.  Master welder Bob Ross was on-hand to help Dave with this task that included grinding and welding.

Phil Lance brought a 1927 wheels to replace the spokes.  Unfortunately, Phil realized at the work party that he had bought spokes for 23″ wheels.

Mark Wing brought spindles, front axle, and drag link for his 1925 Model T touring car.  Once the new bronze bushings diameters were reamed and the height adjusted, the spindles and drag link were installed on the axle.  The front axle was bent, but it was straightened with Larry’s 20 ton hydraulic press at a previous work party.

Ken Carpenter and his friend James brought a malfunctioning starter for troubleshooting and repair.

Frank Lewark and his friend Leonard brought Frank’s 1924 engine block that had suffered from rust pitting and a broken off exhaust manifold mounting stud.  The block was mounted to the bed of Larry’s Bridgeport mill and the broken stud was drilled out and removed with a counter-clockwise drill bit.  The exhaust port openings were also cleaned out on the mill.

It was a very busy and productive work party day at Larry’s Garage!
