Breakfast at Casa de Benavidez (Sept. 12, 2020)

Story and photos by Mark Wing (unless otherwise noted)

Sharron Geilenfeldt and her sister Rita-Loy Simmons hosted the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque breakfast for September. They choose Casa de Benavidez on 4th Street, Albuquerque. Casa de Benavidez is a multi-generational family-owned restaurant known for its Mexican and New Mexican cuisine. They’re also famous for a trademarked “Sopaipilla Burger”.

Four Model T’s were driven to the breakfast on this morning. The Duncans arrived in their 1920 touring car, Mark Wing came in his 1925 touring, the Azevedos drove their very original 1923 truck, and Don Mitchell drove his 1927 Tudor.

Our club practiced “social distancing” by seating no more than people at a table. Some chose to eat on the patio while others ate indoors. Thank you very much to Sharron and Rita-Loy for hosting this breakfast!
