By 8:30 in the morning most of the Tin Lizzies had arrived and were heading to the Mustang Cafe for breakfast. Clearly, this was going to be a warm sunny day with little wind and exactly what we needed it to be for the Rich Ford car show spring celebration. A number of us have noted that we were colder working on our T’s than in the past. I think I can ascribe some of that to anti-hypertension medications, but it has been definitely a colder winter.
We were all happy to greet long time member Doug Turner, his daughter Caitlin and grandson Carter all visiting from Loveland, Colorado. He credits his step-father Roy Young with getting him interested in the Model T hobby. His grandson Carter today was wearing a Tin Lizzie vest that was made for his mother.
There were thirteen Model T’s counting the two 1924 (100 years old) Ts in the Rich Ford Showroom celebrating their 100th birthday. Mark and Susan Wing’s 1924 Coupe and Sharron Geilenfeldt’s 1924 fire truck. Tin Lizzie Steve Langdon did not bring his T but did come in his 1978 Lincoln Town Car.
Raelynn Combest and her grandfather Ray Gabaldon brought Raelynn’s yellow 1926 Coupe. Ray bought the T which had been stored in a South Valley garage for a long time. The owners were ready to move it on. Ray, Raelynn, John Gibbs and others worked to get it running for the car show. They were able to obtain from club supplies at Larry’s an exhaust manifold and gasket set. We observed the T running well and Raelynn driving it expertly out to the trailer area east of Rich Ford.
