Minutes for the Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque General Meeting

held at The Vineyard’s clubhouse on February 23, 2023

Call to Order:

President Mark Dominguez called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. 

Pledge:

President Mark Dominguez led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Welcome:

President Mark Dominguez welcomed everyone to the meeting. We did not have any guests or new members.

Approval of minutes: Motion was made by Vern Willan and seconded to approve the minutes of the January 26, 2023 meeting as published. Motion carried.

Officers’ reports:

Vice President Report– Vaughn Rockafellow presented this month’s raffle items.

Raffle items were:

  1. 1. Henry’s Wonderful Model 
  2. 2. Dies cast Ford tractor.
  3. 3. The Ford Road, book on the 75th anniversary of Ford Motor Company, 1903- 1978
  4. 4. Glassware 

Secretary’s Report- Jessica Lance

No correspondence reported.

Treasure’s Report
– Kirk Peterson absent, report read by Mark Dominguez.

Bank balance was reported and a listing of debits and credits.
A list will be sent to National and the $10 Annual Corporation Commission fee is in process.

Committee reports.

Car Council- Steve Kranz reported that 20 people were in attendance & discussion included: May 21st Car show at the museum.  This is a no trophy show, car owner appreciation day to be announced, swap meet in sept canceled and a car show will be announced to replace. Discussion on bills/legislation were discussed.  Bernalillo County has approved more speed cameras.
E-Mail- Philip & Jessica Lance: Emails addresses have been removed from the distribution list in multiple areas. This is an ongoing clean up. We currently have no bounce backs at this time.
Telephone – Linda Riel reported we have three members receiving reminder phone calls.
T n Vittles- Linda Riel reported we have openings and an email will be sent out.
Meeting Refreshments- Linda Riel reported openings in May & October. One person will be able to handle refreshments alone as attendance is around 20 attendees.

Hospitality- Fran Gurule

Sharon Dominguez was sent a get-well card and Bob Hawk was sent a get well card after his  heart value replacement surgery.

Quartermaster– Larry Azevedo
Audit by Frank and Paul, all is accounted for other than:

Philip – Valve block, Jim G timing gear, cam shaft, Dave -thrust rear axil bearings.

Historian- Marilyn Duncan
Informed members regarding the telephone truck.  Consolidated boxes of donated information into a scrapbook. 

Newsletter- Paul & Marilyn Duncan

Mark Dominguez proposed suspending the newsletter. Paul request this be moved to new business.

Paul Duncan reported that ten people submitted articles and summarized the newsletter.


Meeting Refreshments Betty Housholder and Tom Miles provided our mid-meeting snack.

Old business

T n Vittles– On February 13th, Our hosts, Lorna and Larry Azevedo held the T n Vittles at Mimi’s Café. We had 19 members and 2 Model T’s in attendance.

Work party on February 4th- Larry Azevedo

Steve L- coils, Mark- engine, Kirk- woodwork, Frank & Paul-worked on inventory. Cut a housing for Don N’s ruckstell rear end.

Telephone Truck and Trailer – MTFCA would like to have it by June. Then sell the trailer. Would like to have bids on it. Another idea is the
owner buys the trailer takes the telephone truck to the MTFCA in Richmond, Indiana

Value of the trailer is about $2500 rough estimate given by Larry. Two spares, four good tires. Beaver tail.17ft 5 inches, no title. 

Discussion continues for other ideas / proposals. 

Paul and Mark Wing will contact Freighter Jim for a quote.


New Business:
Drawing for One free Membership to MTFCA must be present to get a ticket (adopted 1/25/2018)

Betty Householder is the winner.

Newsletter

Suspension of the newsletter. Discussion by members.

Larry is not in favor, due to the fear of losing the history. Paul-wants to know what brought this up. Mark responded that the question was brought up by Paul as to how many are actually reading the newsletter. 

Mark Wing stated the club pays extra for website back up.

Vaughn asked how many receive the newsletter via mail. Answer was four.

Mark D asked why articles are not being submitted to the website. Paul did agree that the articles can be sent to Sharon. 

Sharon stated she can add articles and it is not a time constraint for her. 

Marilyn stated that the newsletter is 6 printed pages for a 1st class stamp. 

Janice asked if articles are re-written or altered. 

Jessica stated that her article was altered and content was not as intended and asked that it would not to be changed. A discussion continued with editor Paul Duncan with new guidelines. Articles by members can be sent directly to the website. These will not be subject to alteration/ correction.  The other option is to send your article  to newsletter editor which are subject to alteration/correction.

    Hosts: Janice & Stan.  Stan reported we can trailer your T and park at the Moose Lodge.
  • • Valencia High School- Paul Duncan and Dave Ferro will be attending the Valencia High School car show on February 24th
  • • Work Party February 25th 9:00am -Larry Azevedo
  • • Great Gatsby – Dave Ferro Thursday March 9th 10 am Sandia High school 
  • • Rich Ford March 11th 8 am for breakfast in the café , 9 am set up, with Poco Quatros is the official Model “A” Ford Club of America. Who can drive Stan’s Model T. Please contact him.
  • • 33rd Annual International Chickasha  Pre-War Swap Meet “World’s Largest Early Auto Meet” March  17 & 18, 2023, Mark Wing has three spaces to sell items as he will not be attending. 
  • • 5th Annual Car Show supporting Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico to the NM this can be an easy tour.  
  • • Montana 500- Larry, Kurt, Dave will be attending.
  • • National Tour in Kanas
  • • Fall Tour in Durango more details to come.
