As of February report, 55% of Tin Lizzie members are also MTFCA members. Minimum 50% is required for MTFCA insurance for club activities. Marilyn indicated that all new members are encouraged to join MTFCA to ensure our continued eligibility for insurance.
To encourage greater MTFCA membership, Larry Azevedo suggested requiring MTFCA membership for those wishing to bring a car to a club workday. Vern Willan moved that the club require any car brought to a club workday be owned by a MTFCA member, except for the car being restored by students at Valencia HS. Mark Dominguez seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. This requirement will be a new “standing rule”.
For clubs with 50% or greater MTFCA membership, the club receives one free MTFCA membership each year. In reviewing new members from 2021-2025, seven “new” members had never been MTFCA members. To select the recipient of the free MTFCA membership, a drawing was held which included the names of these members. The winners were Mathew and David Raikes.

Newsletter (Paul and Marilyn Duncan): The April issue of the “Enchanted Flyer” is out. It describes the recent culmination of five years working with the auto shop program at Valencia HS to restore the 1927 Touring donated by Tom Miles. The car was brought up to Larry’s shop for two productive workdays, with Valencia students mentored by club members one-on-one. The car is now back at the HS, running and in good shape. This issue also outlines the other high school programs the club has participated in at Sandia HS, Sandia Prep, and Valencia HS.
Recent Workdays: Larry Azevedo reported on recent activities during club workdays
April 3: Six students from Valencia HS were mentored by Larry, Kirk Peterson, John Criswell, Scott Stuart, and Mark Wing. Marilyn Duncan brought pizza for lunch. All assignments were completed and each of the students received driving lessons.

Leonard Scarborough and Frank Lewark worked on Leonard’s Ruckstall. Scott Stuart re-spoked two wheels. Paul Duncan and Jeff Richards worked on wiring and the fuel line on the Valencia HS car.
April 17: Students from Valencia HS were back for a second workday. Scott Stuart, Angel and Lucian Pena, Jeff Richards and Dave Ferro mentored students as they ran through the MTFCA safety checklist, lubed the car and installed a generator. Larry explained how the T coil and transmission work. The Valencia HS car was started! Marilyn Duncan brought lasagna for lunch. After lunch, four more students received driving lessons. The students saw Cole Wedekind’s 1927 Touring (the same model they have been working on) in Larry’s barn and were impressed.
