Silver City Tour, Day 2 (June 4, 2015)

Day 2 – Thursday, June 4, 2015

We drove the Trail of the Mountain Spirits to the Mimbres Valley through the Black Range where conifers, ponderosas and other pines cast shade on the long hilly roads. We stopped for lunch at the Inn of the Mountain Spirits Café where hamburgers, tacos and sandwiches were provided. The crew there provided great food and lots to drink. It was getting warm, but the relaxing covered porch and swings made a great respite. Michael Housholder’s truck found the hills were a bit much, but after a little rest and tinkering by the fantastic men in our club, it was up and running again. Tom Mac Gugan had a wheel problem that also got adjusted along the way.  We drove back via the scenic byway to Silver City. At 4 pm, we hopped into our cars and drove 6 miles to Pinos Altos for dinner at the Buckhorn Saloon. Some Tin Lizzie members dressed in period clothing and really blended with the ambiance of the place. Before dinner many toured the Opera House and some of the surrounding buildings. We returned to Silver City before dark thirty.
